International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action (4 April 2017)

On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. It called for continued efforts by States, with the assistance of the United Nations and relevant organizations, to foster the establishment and development of national mine-action capacities in countries where mines and explosive remnants of war constitute a serious threat to the safety, health and lives of the civilian population, or an impediment to social and economic development at the national and local levels.

Theme in 2017: Needs driven. People centred.

For 20 years, the work of UNMAS has been driven by the needs of affected people and tailored to the threat of explosive hazards faced by civilians, peacekeepers and humanitarians.

UNMAS works to save lives, to facilitate deployment of UN missions and the delivery of humanitarian assistance, to protect civilians, to support the voluntary return of the internally displaced and refugees, to enable humanitarian and recovery activities and to advocate for international humanitarian and human rights law.

روز بین المللی آگاهی از مین و کمک به فعالیتهای مین زدایی

در هشتم دسامبر 2005، مجمع عمومی نامگذاری 4 آپریل  به عنوان روزی بین المللی ؛ به نام "آگاهی از مین و کمک به فعالیتهای مین زدایی"  را لازم دانست. مین و بقایای مواد منفجره از جنگ در برخی کشورها تهدیدی جدی برای ایمنی، سلامت و زندگی غیرنظامیان یا سدی در برابر بهبود اجتماعی و اقتصادی در سطوح ملی و محلی می سازد. مجمع عمومی، خواستار تلاش مداوم دولتها و همیاری سازمان ملل و سازمانهای مربوطه برای تسریع در تاسیس و توسعه ظرفیتهای فعالیتهای ملی مین زدایی در آن کشورها شد.

شعار 2017:   مبتنی بر نیاز. مردم محور

مرکز بین المللی مین زدایی سازمان ملل، بیست سال است که تلاش خود را بر نیازهای افراد آسیب دیده معطوف و متناسب با  تهدید خطرات مواد منفجره برای غیرنظامیان، صلح طلبان و بشردوستان سازماندهی کرده است.

مرکز بین المللی مین زدایی سازمان ملل می کوشد تا زندگیها را نجات دهد، گسترش ماموریتهای سازمان و تحویل کمکهای بشردوستانه را تسهیل بخشد، مصونیت غیرنظامیان را تامین کند، از بازگشت داوطلبانه آوارگان داخلی و پناهجویان حمایت کند، اقدامات بشردوستانه و جبرانی را برقرار سازد و از قوانین بین المللی بشردوستانه و حقوق بشر دفاع کند.
